Name Plate: Color Scheme

The contrasting colors in a photo truly make or break its overall appearance and appeal to viewers. Colors create mood and atmosphere, two aspects of a photo that give people the ability to connect with it on a personal level. I find different color schemes and swatches to be purely fascinating, and I could easily spend hours at the hardware store matching and pairing different paint swatches. The photo I chose to use for this assignment is a photo that I thought would be suitable because of its many unique color patterns.

With the vibrancy of the flowers compared to the subdued tones of the bricks, this photo gave me the opportunity to use colors from all different sides of the spectrum. I also wanted to use colors that were natural and not filtered or enhanced in any sort of way.

Here's what I came up with when pairing colors from my color scheme in the photo above:

After using the eyedropper tool, I received a wide array of colors for my color scheme. I narrowed it down to these three colors that appeared in my photo. The deep red is evident in the flower bed, and the hues of brown and tan express the cement and bricks that make up the fountain in the background. The typeface I decided to use I felt stated my name and who I am in a seemingly powerful and present fashion. The colors I chose are simple, yet compliment each other very nicely. The colors are warm and inviting, and would make someone want to reach out to me if this appeared on my LinkedIn profile.
